Roots Grow Deep to Establish what will Abound

What are we called to?

To live or to live for something?

I think what we should be asking is W H O are we called to live for?

The world is a what. The world sees only what they want to see. That is why they are a they. We, as a we, are called to see something entirely different.

We see the pain and hurt and we rejoice. We see them wanting so much more than a world can give, and we have what they want, or rather, have received what they need.

The world needs love.

Not just any love. Agape love.

A love above all else that can pour into all.

"This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins." (NIV) 1 John 4:10

The world may ask How? How can you be in a trial and have joy or hope? How can you give your joy back to him and hope in him still? How can you truly believe that the faithful creator is one that I can entrust my soul to?

"Be rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving." (ESV)

Colossians 2:6-7

Be rooted.

Rooted in what the truth says.

Rooted in scripture and the words spoken by the one who wanted us to know his love so much he never cast us out but clothed us. Not only did he experience our hurt and pain, but he took on pain to show just how true his love is.

So be rooted.

Rooted in the truth.

Not the possibilities.

Not the questions that you may not understand or know the answers to.

But in truth.

Truth that he loves you and in him and who he says he is.

Love delights in the truth when it’s all you need to find.

Be established.

Now, as you are rooted in something you begin to become established in it.

Established = having taken root; growing well.

Without the root, there would be nothing to be established in. The word of God is supposed to take root in your heart. It’s supposed to steward your establishment and build on it a firm foundation. It is how your faith can grow.

So, as your roots grow deeper, may your establishment be ever more cemented on the truth.

Go miles and miles deep to open your heart oceans wide and watch as your faith flourishes.

Break down your own establishments. For what good is a house built on lies and sand? For a house built with the cornerstone of the Lord will be established and know it’s true calling.

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock." Matthew 7:24-25

Be abounding.

Your roots are deep so you can be established.

But established for what purpose?

To abound.

Abound = have in large numbers or amounts.

Abounding in what you might ask?

Well, go back to the beginning.

Love and thanksgiving.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

For God so loved the world he clothed Adam and Eve and did not leave them. "And the LORD God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them." Genesis 3:21

For God so loved the world he is coming again to bring life and healing to the broken-hearted.

Abide in the boundless grace he gives.

Abound in what you know. And you know it because you are rooted in it as well as established in it. Abound in love for others from him. Abound in grace.

He will time and time again show you his love. That is who he is.

He is a faithful creator. "Therefore let those who suffer according to God's will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good." 1 Peter 4:19

The one that created you will not leave you to the world. The world that so many look to for establishment or to be rooted in lies. The world seeks your downfall and wanted you to surrender to its evil ways.

We are called higher. He has called us higher. He called us to love. Love that gives no end and has no bounds. Love like the creator loves us.

So take root and be established in the abounding love that you have waiting for you.

He is waiting.

Wanderer come home and see what he has been pressing your heart into.

See how accepted you are and how the waiting can produce steadfastness and endurance.

See the agape love he calls us to.

What are you called to?

What are you rooted in?

Where is your establishment(s)?

How can you abound without roots or establishment?

This post marks something new for me.

This is the beginning, where this blog started, and this is the new, where it will go.

I have glimpsed the webs he is weaving. Not by me, but by an amazing God. Webs that connect each of my posts to this one. Posts that got me to who I am today. They helped me understand who I am, who I’m accepted by, and that waiting can be a tool in my testimony. That my roots want to dig deep into his heart so that I can establish myself in his love.

This is a conclusion.

But not an end.

This is a season. And as I stated, it may not even be over yet. I am on no time but his.

But here I stand. Or sit or whatever it may be, faithful in a good creator and loving father. Devoted to understanding and knowing him more. Evermore able to endure where he has and will call me to go.

Here I am. Send me.

Help me to love even a fraction in the way you have shown your love to me.

Help me to seek you and know that I will find you when I do. Help me to give up control and to maybe even get lost along the way just so I know I can always find my way back to you.

This blog was never me.

It was Him.

It is a testimony of his love in my life.

It is my Ebenezer and I am thankful to be able to look at what he has done and where he has taken me.

It will always be beautiful and it will always be fun because the same one who told me that spoke those words into existence.

Here I declare my love.

My love for a God that has fearfully and wonderfully made me and is the only way I can love others.

Because he first loved me.
